Introduction: We live in an age of science. We can see the influence of science in every stage of life. Science has worked many wonders. In its rapid progress, it goes on creating one wonder after another. In fact, the wonders of modern science are too many to describe.
Electricity: The discovery of electricity seems to be the first wonder of modern science. It has brought about a revolutionary change in our life, society, and culture. It is a great source of power and energy. The radio, television, lights, fans, electric irons, mills, and factories, all work through the power of electricity.
Telephone wireless: Telephone and wireless are another two wonders of modern science. They have brought the world closer to us. We can send news from one corner of the world to other within a moment. They have conquered space distance and time.
Computer: The computer is the latest wonder. We cannot imagine how much function a computer has. We use the computer for thousands of functions such as printing, medical studies, communication, recreation, composing, etc.
Radio, television, cinema, and internet: These instruments of amusement play a very important role in the domain of leisure amusement. It is really a great wonder how the image of a person or an object turns into electricity and is received by the television set and cinema.
Nuclear energy: The most wonderful of all the working of modern science is the release of nuclear energy. It has made possible the manufacture of the Atom Bomb, the Hydrogen Bomb, and missiles. Nuclear energy is used to produce electricity in developed countries.
Space travel: Space travel is another wonder of modern science. Man has already landed on the moon successfully and has safely returned. Scientists landing on different planets made us hopeful to survive more.
Medical science: Science has lessened human suffering. It has given eyes to the blind, hearing to the deaf, and legs to the lame. It has found new ways to health and life. It has increased the joys of life. Penicillin, x-ray, biopsy, and ultrasonography, ECG are some of the wonders of modern science in medical science.
Conclusion: The wonders of modern science can hardly be over-emphasized in the true sense of the term. Modern science is like Aladin's magic lamp. It is doing today what was supposed to be impossible yesterday. Where it will end nobody can say but this can be said that it will go on creating newer and greater wonders in the days to come.
