Fruits of Bangladesh (বাংলাদেশের ফল)
Introduction: Bangladesh is rich in fruits. She produces various kinds of fruits all year round Some are green, others yellow. Many of them are sweet and a few are sour. Whatever may be their size, color, and taste almost all of them are beneficial for health.
Mango: The Mango, is the king of fruits. It takes the position by its sweetness and nutrition. It grows all over the country. But the Mangoes of Rajshahi and Dinajpur are the best. The Mangoes have several varieties such as Fazli. Langra, Mohonbhog, Gopalbhog, Sitabhog etc. The mango tree is our national tree.
Jack fruits: In Bengali, Jack fruit is called 'Kanthal'. It is a giant among fruits. It has rough and prickly skin. It has many juicy cells inside. It is a composite fruit. The flakes are golden in color and sweet to taste. The seeds inside the flakes are used for making curry. It is our national fruit.
Pineapple: Pineapple is a fruit of the rainy season. It is juicy and tasty. It is a very health-giving fruit. It is a highly palatable and very health-giving fruit. It is said that a glass of pineapple juice in the morning keeps the doctor far away.
Coconut: Coconut is another popular fruit in Bangladesh. The water inside it is refreshing. The kernel is also a very nutritious food. It is used for making various delicious food such as cake, payes, etc. The milk of the coconut is a wholesome and refreshing drink.
Banana: Banana is available all year round. It is a nice fruit and is as delicious as it is nutritious. It has different varieties such as the Amritasagar, the Shabri, the Kabari, the Agniswar, etc. Its green prototype is a very popular vegetable.
Guava, Orange, Papaw, and Palm: Guava is a rich fruit that contains a sufficient amount of vitamin 'C'. The Orange is a very sweet and juicy fruit. It is very good for the liver. The Papaw is also a very nutritious fruit and it is also very good for the liver. The Palm is a popular fruit in Bangladesh.
Some other fruits: The Lichis, Blackberries, Dates, Melons, Figs-native apples, Star apples, Wood apple Pomegranates, Tamarind, and Kamranga are some of our common fruits. Lichis are sweet and flavoury and are in wi demand in summer. The Melon is also a very good fruit. Its watery juice cools and refreshes people during summer.
Conclusion: Most of the fruits are tasteful and healthy giving various kinds of tonics, syrups, sams, and jellies made from the juice of fruits. Nowadays these are exported to many foreign countries and a lot of foreign exchange is earned.
